Local Art on a Platter

Teapot Sculpture Glenorchy Open

The Glenorchy Open is an annual exhibition of artists from around the municipality. I popped in to Moonah Arts Centre to check it out and was happy to find this huge teapot sculpture taking pride of place. It’s called Tea with Friends and was created by Grietje van Randen (and friends) using wire, beads and china mugs.

My favourite piece in the show is a mixed media work that looks like it was painted on a tray. It’s by Laura E Kennedy and it’s called Raven Skull; dark and brooding but lovely.

And I got a kick out of these fun T-shirts by Penny Malone. They surely express what many Moonah locals are thinking about that big newcomer gallery, Museum of Old and New Art.

(The Glenorchy Open is showing at Moonah Arts Centre until 28 February. Oh, that’s tomorrow. Get your skates on!)
