Ten Days on the Island Festival: Live! At the Riviera

Dancing Feet Vintage Style

Overheard at Live! At the Riviera:

“Do you want to dance?”

“No. I don’t dance. I am strictly a non-dancer.”

————-

“Look at that really old couple out there. They’ve got the moves. Old people know how to dance properly because they learnt how to dance.”

“Yeah, but they’ve been doing those same moves the whole time, the whole night. Look at them, they look like they’re dancing to a different song than what the band is playing.”

—————

“You need someone to dance with? You can dance with Dan. See that guy out there in the dapper suit? He’s dancing with me next, but then you can dance with him. He won’t mind; he’ll dance with anyone.”

—————-

“You two are amazing! Are you trained dancers? I couldn’t tell if there was technique under that crazy freestyling.”

“Oh, we’re just freestyling…”

“Actually I’m trained in Jive, Blues, Rumba, Salsa and Flamenco.”

“Sorry?”

“I said I have dance training in Jive, Blues, Rumba, Salsa and Flamenco.”

“Oh.”

—————

Live! At the Riviera was directed by Kris Stewart, featuring Dan Barnett as band leader and vocalist, with additional singers including Lizzie Moore.

    • Yes, I agree about the international language! It made me think of those scenes with the Muppets dancing and making corny jokes.
